How can you stand out in a crowded market?

You're going to think I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not. The best way to stand out in a crowded market is to stand out. Be the family rice pudding recipe.

I grew up in on the top floor of a brownstone occupied by 3 old Italian siblings on the other 3 floors. The older sister/matriarch cooked for the family every Sunday. Sometimes she'd leave a container of rice pudding on our stairs, which I'd devour in minutes. That was the only rice pudding I knew growing up so, to this day, there is a flavor that is missing in all other rice puddings. Other rice pudding is tolerable, but it isn't Mary's (who is since deceased), so I know I'm settling when I eat it.

Your job is to be Mary's rice pudding for your people. Like anything else you do, the relationship you have with your clients, followers, tribe, is unique. So when you invite them to take part in whatever you are offering, they should feel like it's something they can ONLY get from you. In a sea of rice puddings, you add something that cannot be replicated so it cannot be substituted. You offer something that is remarkable in its unsubstitutability.

What is your secret ingredient? How is your rice pudding different? Why are you remarkably unsubstituable?

If you don't already know, it's time for you to throw out the recipe book and wing it. Experimentation is the only way you'll happen upon your remarkable recipe, and your remarkable recipe is the only way you'll become unsubstitutable. And unsubstitutable is profitable AF.

Now go be rice pudding for your people.
